RCMP provided an update earlier today (April 19th) on their investigation into the tragic Humboldt Broncos bus crash nearly two weeks ago.

Assistant Commissioner Curtis Zablocki says there is little they know at the moment, especially regarding the semi-trailer involved in the collision.

“The preliminary investigation has determined that the tractor-trailer unit was in the intersection at the time of the collision and I can assure you that all of our efforts are dedicated to determining why the tractor-trailer unit was in the intersection.”

Zablocki said that right now, RCMP are still in an evidence recovery and collection stage and that no charges have been laid at the moment as they continue to gather information.

The RCMP say that the investigation will take time as there are many angles to look and questions to ask.

“There are a number of aspects of the investigation that are underway, from environmental to human element to mechanical. There are a lot of unanswered questions and our investigators are committed to providing those answers and we expect to provide those answers by the conclusion of this investigation”

Right now there’s no exact timeline as to when the collection stage of the investigation will be completed.
