Halloween is right around the corner, which means Airdronians of all ages will be dressing up in their best costumes and heading out for a night of candy and fun.

This includes adults who will be getting behind the wheel and Alberta RCMP are asking all drivers to exercise caution and play their part in keeping everyone safe.

"Halloween night sees children transform into monsters and princesses with one thing in mind: candy. Adults who will be out with little ones or who will be driving are reminded to watch for children who might be dashing across streets," said Sgt. Jack Poitras, RCMP Media Relations Manager in a press release.

While parents are asked to ensure their children check both ways before crossing, drivers are also being warned to be extra cautious.

  • Slow down and keep an eye out for children running across the streets
  • Some children will be wearing dark costumes; keep an eye out for them
  • If you are wearing a costume, ensure it does not interfere with your driving
  • Do not drink and drive
  • Avoid driving in residential areas where there will be lots of trick-or-treaters.
