Rocky View Schools is currently reviewing all the boundaries within Rocky View due to the uneven constituent numbers within each ward.

There are currently 6 wards and 7 trustees in RVS, ranging from 10,000 voting constituents up to 60,000 constituents.

Airdrie has the largest number of constituents with 2 trustees, giving each trustee 30,000 voters.

"The rule of thumb with representation by population is that it should be plus or minus 25 per cent voters per ward, per riding, per constituency," said Colleen Munro, Chair of the Board of Trustees of RVS.

With Airdrie's numbers well above the 25 per cent mark, Munro said that a consultant was hired to strategize new boundary ideas that the public could vote on.

There are 4 proposals that are being presented; the first is to remain status quo, the second is adding 2 trustees to make a total of 9, while the other two proposals maintain the number of trustees at 7 but change the ward boundaries.

RVS will be holding public meetings over the next three weeks, with the first meeting being held in Cochrane on November 29, at RanchView School.

Airdrie will be the last public meeting to be held on Thursday, December 8, from 7 - 8:30 p.m. at the RVS Education Centre.

If you are unable to attend the public meeting, RVS has set up an online survey that reviews all the same information that will be presented on the 8th.

The survey and additional details can be found on the Rocky View Schools website.
