A motorsports park proposal has been presented to Mountain View County; the same developer sent a proposal to Rocky View County in 2015.

This proposal, presented by Rocky Mountain Motorsports, is aiming at building the facility on the corner of the QEII and highway 581, near Carstairs.

The facility would host an F2 Formula race track, a performance driving school, and a car storage garage.

Matthew Pawlow, Manager of Planning Services with Mountain View County, said there have been comments that are both for and against the new facility.

"There was the initial circulation that went out to affected land owners within a 1 mile radius of the proposal and through the process, other area residents, along with the residents of Carstairs, were made aware," he said.

With the two highways being involved, Pawlow said there's a bit more to this particular process.

"The Government agencies that we circulated. So that would include Alberta Environment and Alberta Transportation since we have highways 581 and QEII there. They have an interest in that area so they have the opportunity to provide comments."

With the proposal only being in it's beginning stages, Mountain View County is considering redesignating the land use for the 5km included in the proposal.

"The South East quarter of section 12 isn't designated for business park in the area structural plan so what they want to do is change that from low density residential designation to now a business park to encompass their entire developments," said Pawlow.
