Last week, Dan McTeague, Sr. Petroleum Analyst with Gas Buddy said that gas prices would see between a 4-9 cent increase at the pumps, but what we saw was a 2 cent per litre drop.

McTeague said that although there were refinery issues as predicted and the Canadian dollar did have an effect, many gas stations in Southern Alberta did not require refueling, which is how gas prices held steady through most of last week.

This week pump prices may drop 1 to 2 cents per litre, but McTeague said with the current prices in Airdrie sitting at 89.4 cents per litre which is only 5 cents up from the retail purchase price we wont see much of a shift.

"By later this week we could see wholesale prices drop another 2 cents a litre, and within 2 to 4 days of that drop on the Chicago market we could see prices drop another penny maybe two if we're lucky."
