The pink fire truck you've seen around Airdrie has raised funds to support the Alberta Cancer Foundation.

The Airdrie Professional Firefighters Association (APFA) Local #4778 has announced that during the month of October, their PINK Engine cancer awareness campaign has raised a total of $4,000. A pink fire truck was driven around the City of Airdrie in October, collecting signatures on it's pink exterior as well as raising funds for the Alberta Cancer Foundation.

Deputy Fire Chief Garth Rabel of the Airdrie Fire Department is thankful for the outpouring of generous support.

"We're extremely grateful and blown away by the support the community gave us, their messages of encouragement, of remembrance, of love and support, it was really heart-warming to see."

Rabel says that the funds raised will be helping those affected by cancer.

"They're going to go the the (Alberta) Cancer Foundation to support their caring and ongoing work with both treatment, education, and family support for those who are battling the disease."
