Pete Knight Days are coming up in Crossfield this weekend (June 9-10).

The event is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, which President Ian Leask said shows the value the community places on the event.

"It's an event in Crossfield that most people in Crossfield look forward to, and without the support we wouldn't exist."

Leask also shared about the event's namesake, a bronc rider in the 1920s, and said that he considers Pete Knight the greatest rider of all time.

"Today there's riders, but I don't consider them the same horse knowledge as they had back in the twenties, so for him to win as much as he did, that speaks volumes."

The event will carry on Pete Knight's legacy with a rodeo, as well as a parade, demolition derby, dancing and fireworks. Leask said there's a simple reason Airdronians should consider the drive.

"It's easier to get to Crossfield than it is the Calgary Stampede. We've got many things that people in Airdrie would enjoy."
