Despite the bone chilling forecast only one local school shut it's doors on December 7th.

Airdrie Koinonia Christian School closed for the day due to the cold windchills that could affect those travelling from outside the city.

According to their policy, the school will close to staff and students if the windchill is forecasted to reach at least -36.

It was a different story for Rocky View Schools and the Calgary Catholic School District, who remained opened with buses running on schedule.

According to the RVS Policy, the windchills should hit approximately -40 before deciding whether to close the schools.
