Construction got underway on Wednesday, June 8, at Nose Creek Park as part of the City Parks enhancement project.

The first phase of the demolition includes tearing down the washrooms and concession stand.

Scott Fediow, Parks Development Technician, said the new washrooms and pavilion areas should be complete within the next 2 months but the second phase will take more time.

"The next phase is the stage and amphitheater, so we will be dismantling the stage that is existing, tearing that down and then building a new amphitheater with boardwalk."

Fediow said the reason the amphitheater is part of the second phase is because the City is waiting for approval from Alberta Environment due to it being within the flood fringe area.

Approval can take between 3 months to one year, but Fediow is hopeful it will be sooner rather than later to ensure the entire project can be completed by the end of this year.

During construction, the park's pathways and playgrounds will remain open but some pathways may be shut down for short periods of time.

For residents who are concerned that there will be no access to washrooms during construction, Fediow assures that the there will be port-o-potties available by the end of the week.
