Last Tuesday  (February 21), City Council passed a By-Law that could see Dangerous Goods Routes in Airdrie.

The By-Law will still need approval from Alberta Transportation, which Engineering Team Lead Bob Neale says can take some time.

"That process will probably take about 2 to 4 weeks before we get the turnaround from the Minister."

Neale says that the roads that could be marked as Dangerous Goods Routes are mostly the city's arterial roads.

"Highway 567 or Veterans Boulevard. The reason why those routes are selected is because they connect into the industrial areas of Airdrie."
