As the province announced that mandatory health measures that are now in Alberta would remain in effect until at least January 21st, they also announced fewer new cases of COVID-19 and a drop in the number of people in hospital.  

Premier Jason Kenney says there are 968 new cases being reported today which were found out of 14,833 lab tests for a positivity rate of 6.4 percent.

Hospitalizations fell by 40 to 871 today while two fewer people are being treated in ICU, a total of 139.  Sadly, Alberta reported 24 more deaths bringing that total to 1,217.

There are now 13,298 active cases of the illness among Albertans.

The active cases in the City of Airdrie dropped slightly today, falling by two to 180.  1,415 people in the city have recovered and there are no more deaths to report with that number remaining at ten.

In Rocky View County active cases now number 79 with 643 recoveries and two deaths.
