The new kindergarten to grade 8 school being built in Airdrie's Hillcrest community may be nearly six months away from having students in its hallways but in three weeks it's going to have the first principal in its history.

Rocky View School Superintendent Greg Luterbach recently announced the appointment of Lindsay Adams as the first principal for Northcott Prairie School, effective April 1st.

Adams is currently principal of Elbow Valley Elementary School in Springbank.  Adams career as an educator started in Ontario in 2004 where she was a literacy coach and early reading intervention teacher.  She went on to teach French Immersion at the elementary and middle school levels before joining RVS, first as assistant principal at Ecole Edwards Elementary in 2013.  She was appointed principal of Elbow Valley in 2016.

Adams holds a Masters of Education, a Bachelor of Education, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology/Sociology, all from Nipissing University.  She recently obtained her Leadership Quality Standards certification.  In her tenure with RVS Adams has served as the chair of Rocky View Schools' French Immersion Benchmarks committee and as a member of RVS' Literacy and Numeracy task force where she was the co-author of the jurisdiction's Literacy and Numeracy Framework.

Northcott Prairie School is now under construction in Airdrie's Hillcrest community.  The school is scheduled to open this fall.

Luterbach also made two other appointments effective April 1st as Adams' appointment set off a chain reaction for positions needing to be filled in RVS.

Brendan Trinca has been appointed the Principal of Elbow Valley Elementary School, taking over Adam's former position.  And Neil Comba has been appointed Acting Principal of Glenbow Elementary School in Cochrane, the role formerly held by Trinca.
