Students joined two of the newest members of Rocky View Schools on Thursday, September 1st.

Heloise Lorimer School opened its doors to K-7 students, while Coopers Crossing School welcomed K-3 kids.

"The guiding phrase for our school is "Caring to Make a Difference", and so it starts with us caring for them to make a difference in their lives and then to teach them to be caring indivduals and citizens to make a difference in the world." said Todd Hennig, Principal of Coopers Crossing School.

Coopers Crossing School features a learning commons that snakes it's way through the building, giving students a chance to learn more openly and freely outside the classroom.

Heloise Lorimer School aims to reach similar goals through their use of "Makers Spaces", which allow students to learn and grow through unique hands on activities and exercises.

"We do use technology for learning, so it is a big part of it, but it's not the only part of it," said Brenda Valerio, Principal, Heloise Lorimer School. "We have a huge literacy focus that can involve technology but it also involves old fashioned books."

Both schools will join RVS in their mission to educate students with "21st Century Competencies".
