Graduation season in Airdrie began last night as students from George McDougall held their commencement ceremony.

Family and friends packed the Shane Field House at Genesis Place as the Class of 2018 walked the stage one by one.

The ceremony included speeches from RVS Trustee Melyssa Bowen, Principal Gary Bell and Valedictorian Zane McLeod.

McLeod, who’s been an instrumental part of the Ride of The Mustang the last couple years spoke on what it’s been like to be a Mustang.

He spoke to his classmates about how amazing and challenging the last four years have been and that no matter what they stuck together.

He ended his speech with a bold statement of “Once a Mustang, Always a Mustang.”

The ceremony also included the Grade 12 awards and scholarship recipients and of course, the traditional throwing of the Grad caps, to mark the finale.

Graduation ceremonies continue this afternoon when W.H. Croxford takes the stage while Bert Church will march in their ceremony tomorrow.
