The Government of Alberta has expanded their energy efficiency program.

Earlier today (April 18th), Minister of Environment and Parks Shannon Phillips unveiled new products that will join the NDP's Energy Efficiency program.

As part of the new initiatives, homeowners could receive up to $3,500 in rebates for insulation, tankless water heaters and low-e argon windows.

Minister Phillips says the time was right to unveil these eligible products because she believes Albertans are warming up to their climate change plan.

"It's quite clear that Albertans have a desire for energy efficiency programming and that energy efficiency has been an overlooked resource in Alberta for many, many years."

Phillips went on to say that the program is still just one piece of the continuing puzzle of Alberta's Climate Change plan.

"We still have some work to do with stakeholders in the energy industry and in particular with the oil sands advisory group on what our innovation and technology framework looks like."

The new Home Renovation program will start on April 28th.
