It was a special moment for local hockey players and the Airdrie Food Bank yesterday afternoon (January 29).

The Airdrie Minor Hockey Association presented a cheque for $1,023 to the Food Bank. Kaden, who plays for the Airdrie Lightning-Inferno, explained how they raised the money.

Several kids with AMHA have fun after presenting a donation to the Airdrie Food Bank

"During Hometown Hockey, there was a hot dog booth at the back and all the money that was raised from there was sent to the Airdrie Food Bank."

Kaden was joined by several other players including Nicky from the Peewee Black Knights, who said it's always good to give back and "[Help] the less fortunate than us."

His fellow AMHA member Kaden definitely agrees.

"It feels good because a lot of people, they don't have jobs and they need to be able to get food from somewhere."

The Airdrie Food Bank will use the money to where it's most needed, including their school meal and snack attack programs.
