The Airdrie Town & Country Centre hosted the Airdrie Christmas Show yesterday where locals could sell, shop and donate non-perishable foods to the Airdrie Food Bank.

The parking lot was filled with local's vehicle, food trucks, and the Airdrie Food Bank donation van where people could donate by filling the van with food.

Airdrie Farmers Market manager Candice Kolson said that every year they have a new goal for the amount of food donated.

"Every year we just hope that we beat the year before so sometimes, depending on the economy, we're a little bit down but other times we're way up. We're just thankful for people that come and choose to give generously of give what they can," commented Kolson.

Locals filled the halls of the centre almost wall-to-wall while they shopped. Whether it was in the packed parking lot or the packed Town & Country Centre, Airdrie locals were everywhere.

Kolson said that it's turnouts like this that really reinforces what they do.

"We love it. Anytime that the Farmers Market puts on an event and it's well attended just tells us that we're doing something right. It means the community loves it, wants to support it and that they're finding value in it as well."

The show held booths that sold everything from wine to jewelry, and Kolson said that they pride themselves on having whatever a person might want.

"We like to say there's something for everyone. That you'd be pretty hard-pressed to come to the show and not find something that you really enjoy or that maybe you're going to put on your Christmas list."
