A man has been arrested after a stange incident that took place right on Main Street.

Around 10:30 am this morning a man was arrested after barricading himself inside the Shell gas station on the corner of Centre Avenue.

Earlier the man climbed on top of the roof of the Addictive Ink Tattoo Shop and began ripping the roofing off of the building.

According to employees of the shop, when they approached the man he began crying saying he was trying to "make the world safer."

The man then began to run from the area and the employees of the shop began chasing him.

Colin Ditchfield owner of Addictive Ink Tattoo Shop says he got a call from his employee when the incident occurred.

"I showed up and got a call from my assistant saying this guy was ripping the roof off our building trying to break in. When I showed up he began to run and my assistant started chasing him and then he locked himself in the shell before RCMP arrived."

Ty Howard one of the men who pursued the suspect says it was a strange experience.

"When I was talking to him something seemed off,  He said he was trying to make things safer for everybody."

The suspect then barricaded himself inside the Shell gas station with one of the attendants still inside.

RCMP were called and arrested the man.

Police believe the man was under the influence of a substance.
