A 61-year-old male from Airdrie has been arrested for impaired driving of a motor vehicle.

On Friday, August 12, at 3:12p.m., Airdrie RCMP, Rocky View Fire Services, and EMS were called to a report of a single vehicle collision east of Highway 2 on Highway 566.

According to RCMP, when crews arrived, they found the driver and lone occupant of the vehicle to be uninjured from the collision, although he was showing signs of impairment to first responders and witnesses.

After investigating, the male was arrested and taken back to the Airdrie RCMP detachment to provide breath samples, which registered at three times the legal limit.

RCMP said this is the second time in less than a month where Airdrie RCMP have made charges against an impaired driver during the day.

Cst. Matt Gervais, with the Airdrie RCMP, strongly urges drivers to report any other drivers they believe are driving under the influence.
