Airdrie RCMP have charged an Airdrie man following an episode where he wielded a hockey stick while intoxicated.

On Tuesday (September 12) around 5:25pm, Police received multiple calls about a man destroying property and causing a disturbance in the Thorburn and Big Springs area.

RCMP learned that the man had broken numerous items in his own home, threw rocks at a parked vehicle and destroyed a neighbour's fence before stealing a hockey stick and holding it like a firearm while pretending to shoot at passing vehicles. Police sent several units to the area in an attempt to locate the man.

He was eventually found at the intersection of East Lake Boulevard and Thorburn Drive where he was arrested without incident. The man was cooperative, and Police determined he was under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

37 year old Warren Robert Eyapaise is now charged with mischief over $5,000, two counts of mischief under $5,000, theft under $5,000, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, causing a disturbance and breach of probation. Eyapaise was remanded into custody and will appear at Provincial Court in Airdrie via CCTV next Thursday (September 21).
