On February 7th, the Alberta PC's will hold their final leadership debate before their big convention.

One of the candidates, Vermillion-Lloydminster MLA Richard Starke says Airdrie plays a big role in the Province's future.

"The community has a phenomenal community spirit. Works together really well and despite rapid growth in recent years, it's really one of the cities in Alberta that's really making a name for itself."

Starke served as the Minister for Tourism and Parks under the governing PC Party and saw Airdrie put on quite the show at the 2014 Alberta Summer Games.

The MLA says he is well aware of one of Airdrie's biggest needs.

"I know that Airdrie's been looking for an Urgent Care Centre that can look after people 24/7, take care of their emergencies. I know there's a lot of concern that even though Calgary is not far away that is still an issue."

When it comes to "Uniting the right", Starke isn't in support, saying the process could move too quickly to be effective.

"The thing I hear for Albertans again and again is 'we need to defeat the NDP in the next election'. And if that's the concern Albertans have, taking time and energy to try and create some unified entity is not the way to do it."

Starke, hopes you and other Airdronians will take advantage of the PC Delegation vote in the City on February 9th
