An Airdrie man has been charged with six offenses following an incident in the East Lake Industrial Park on Saturday (January 7).

At approximately 6:15pm, Airdrie RCMP received a call that a theft was in progress and a man was trying to steal an enclosed motorcycle trailer. The caller was alerted to the theft by a surveillance system.

Multiple officers responded to the call and located the suspect at the scene.

Meckler then fled on foot, pursued by police. The suspect was able to evade police and tried to hide, but police set up a containment area and Police Dog Services were deployed to track down the suspect, who was found hiding and arrested.

32 year old Kyle Meckler has been charged with theft over $5000, possession of stolen property, resisting arrest, failing to comply with release conditions and two counts of mischief.

Meckler will appear in court this morning (January 9) at 9:00am.
