It's been a big week for the cast and crew of Airdrie's latest movie project.

Highway Patrolman, a short film web series of local studio Crooked Cinema, premiered for the second phase of Telus Storyhive on Monday (February 5).

Director Mitch George explained that many films, including Highway Patrolman, are up for a big prize from Storyhive.

"We're in what they call Phase 2 voting. What happens here is, if you win the Phase 2 voting, you get $50,000 to move forward from your pilot episode and actually create the whole series."

George said winning that $50,000 prize would not only be a benefit to his studio but the entire community.

"It really isn't all on us, it's the community. As we've already seen, the community is voting for us, they're moving the word for us, it's insane. I've never seen one community back a team of people as much as this community so I'm super happy about that."

Highway Patrolman features a cast and crew almost entirely of Airdrie residents including lead actor Sean Hunter, who never had an acting role until this film.

The voting for Phase 2 of Storyhive wraps up in just a couple days and you can vote for the film on Crooked Cinema's website.
