Lovepreet Deo doesn't let cerebral palsy or anything else stand in the way of her love of cycling, and her inspirational story is getting recognized.

At the beginning of November, Deo received the Personal Inspiration Award from the Alberta Abilities Lodges Society.

Deo, a distance cyclist, said the award is incredibly meaningful.

"It means so much. It's an amazing feeling that I'm inspiring someone by doing something that I love, and I'm not about to give up anytime soon."

With the new year approaching, Deo is training and preparing for 2017.

"I don't know what 2017 has in store for me but when it presents itself, I'm ready to face it."

Deo's trainer at Genesis Place, Dawn Sorsdahl, said now that they know what Deo is capable of, they are gearing up for the future and aiming high.

"I know now that we can do long distance, so maybe a marathon" says Sorsdahl, with a laugh and a grin at Deo, "If not, maybe this year I think the focus will be more fun activities."

Deo hopes that her story will continue to inspire anyone living with cerebral palsy.

"If you really want to do something, go for it. Just put your heart and mind to it. You can do anything you want. Don't let anybody tell you any different."
