Rocky View Handibus will be relocating at the end of September the organization is looking for a new location.

Although Handibus has found a place to go for the interim, it's only a short-term solution.

Paul Siller, executive director of Rocky View Handibus, says the current location will work for a short period of time.

"We found an interim arrangement with two of the three things we need; an office space, a bay for the minor repairs that we do, but we don't have any parking. We have to find a nearby, fenced-in yard to deal with our spare buses."

Rocky View Handibus is a shared-ride program that drives individuals to medical appointments, schools, work, and around rural communities.

Siller added that the organization continues to grow and they will need a bigger location to accommodate the growth.

"We need to have enough money for operations and overhead, just like somebody else. We do need a bay to wash the buses in and we're getting to the size where we're about to need our own full-time mechanic, so we need a place for that mechanic to work."

Any place that is near a highway, or has easy access to the highway, will be considered by the staff.

"Crossfield to Balzac, with a preference to being closer to Balzac. Anything near the Highway 2 corridor gets a look because, well, we use the highway to get to those far-from-home points," said Siller.

While Rocky View Handibus is looking for a new location, it will not affect the current scheduling for students that use to bus to get to school.
