The construction on First Street between Center Avenue and First Avenue has wrapped up following repairs to a water main line, however, the lengthy process created challenges for local business owners.

There are close to 10 businesses located along First Street and some more than others were affected by the construction.

Anna's Spas owner Kalsadra says he is happy the construction is done as it was challenging for his clients to gain access to the building.

"During the weeks it was hard for our clients to find parking, also our delivery got moved to the Canada Post office which forced us to travel to the east side just to receive our products."

Some of the spa's clients were forced to cancel appointments due to not being able to access the building because of physical challenges.

"We saw a big decline in customers that come to us for physical treatment of pre-existing injuries because they couldn't physically approach our store."

There was no major damage during the construction other than an internet and cable lines that snapped due to the increasing volume of traffic using the back alley.

Kalsadra says that the City of Airdrie quickly remedied the incident and overall he was very happy with how the city was treating him.

"They were very cooperative and they understood our needs as a business and they really tried their best to help us during the process."

All in all, Kalsadra says he's happy with the city and that the work is finished.
