The Airdrie Lioness Club, in partnership with Air 106.1 FM, hosted their Live Drive for Extras event on December 2.

All day, the Lioness Club received donations at their depot on Main Street to support their Christmas hamper program. Rhonda Auclair, President of the Lioness Club, was overwhelmed by the generosity of Airdronians.

"We've had such fun today," an emotional Auclair said, "We've had children in here bringing in special little toys, some of them which they really didn't want to part with but they did at the end, knowing that it was going to go to a really needy family. We've had people donating cash, people that brought down some food, some gifts for teens, for moms and dads. The community of Airdrie is such a giving community, it's so generous and it's just so heartwarming to see the support that the community gives to us."

A highlight of the day was when the Airdrie Dads Facebook group presented a check for $20,000 to the Airdrie Lioness Club, an experience that Auclair could not tell us about without getting choked up.

"We were absolutely blown away," Auclair said through tears, "The joy that that's going to bring to a lot of people, we are just so thankful and so appreciative of all of the Airdrie dads who have taken the time and the effort to not only give to the Airdrie Lioness Club but to also instill in their children and in their families the gift of giving."

Auclair had a special message to everyone who participated in the drive, in big ways or small.

"Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We are so excited about being able to do hampers in Airdrie for the Airdrie Lioness, and just giving back to our community."
