That once fine fir, pretty pine or scintillating spruce tree that adorned your living room for Christmas now makes the Charlie Brown tree look gorgeous.  It's time to give it a proper resting place, as a pile of mulch in an Airdrie park.

The deadline to recycle live, or at least formerly live, Christmas trees is Friday (January 19).  It's the last day that you can take your tree to the Airdrie Recycling Depot so that they can make mulch out of it.

Leanne Moreira, the Education Coordinator for Waste and Recycling, said to remove all tinsel and decorations from your tree before bringing it in.

Oh, and take the lights off it too!  You could need those in about ten and a half months.
