Conversation in the City Council meeting on Monday, June 6, revolved around Land Use Bylaw amendments.

One of the biggest topics discussed regarding Bylaw B-11/2016 and B-12/2016 - Monklands Land Use Amendment.

Mark Spence, City of Airdrie senior planner, approached council members with the suggestion of turning that area, which can be found directly between Ralph McCall School and the Monklands Soccer Fields, into a sports facility.

This new outdoor facility would include a multi-use sport court and a new hockey rink.

City Council made three readings for the amendment, all which were voted in favour unanimously.

Another hot topic included B-16/2016, B-17/2016 and B-19/2016, which addressed the new temporary on-ramp from 40th Ave to the QEII.

Currently, the City of Airdrie is awaiting approval from the Provincial government before proceeding with construction.
