Lots of pets don't like it when one person comes to your door, so imagine how they'll react to a constant stream of trick-or-treaters.

For the safety of your pet and the ghosts and ghouls looking for candy, Edna Jackson, owner of Tails to Tell, recommends that you keep your pet in a separate room so they can't escape.

"Keep them inside, even if you have to put them in a spare room. Especially if they are bolters, just put them in a spare room because once they get out, goodness only knows what's going to happen to them."

If you take your dog out trick-or-treating, consider putting on a reflective or light up dog collar so it is visible.

Also, make sure your pet isn't eating any Halloween candy that's laying around.
