As Airdrie continues its fight to build a hospital, you may have heard rumblings on social media that north Calgary will build one first.

So far, those are only rumours. According to Alberta Health Services, there are no definitive plans to open another Calgary hospital in the near future.

Brookfield Residential, the developers of Livingston, set aside a parcel of land near Centre Street North in 2014 with the hope that a hospital would soon be built there to help accommodate services for the north as well as Airdrie and Balzac.

Alberta Health Services says there are no plans right now to build a hospital in that location, with all decisions ultimately coming from the Provincial Government.

The office for Ward 3 in Calgary, which includes Livingston, sent this email in regards to the potential hospital:

"The only information we have on the future hospital in Livingston is that Alberta Health Services asked the developer to set aside a piece of land but as for a final decision and / or timing, that would be up to the Provincial Government.  Beyond that we do not have any further information related to the future hospital."

Brookfield Residential didn't respond to a request for comment.
