The City of Airdrie has completed reviewing the City Census conducted in April and have released some of the interesting details they collected.

The total growth of the city was announced in July at a City Council meeting, showing the city's growth has slowed down a bit this year compared to 2014 and 2015.

The city has a total of 61,842 residents with 64 per cent living in single family homes, 14 per cent in apartments, 14 per cent in townhouses, 5 per cent in duplex's, and 3 per cent in mobile or manufactured homes.

As developments continue to grow and new areas begin construction, the largest majority of our population resides in King's Heights, while Luxstone isn't far behind in the numbers.

The majority of the population is between the ages of 25 and 44, with 35 percent falling into this age category.

The city was also curious about where new residents were coming from and found that over 2500 people moved from Calgary, while 1090 came from other parts of Alberta and 887 came from out of province or another country.

A factor that has played into the recent applications for business licenses is the economy which has seen and increase from 2841 applications in 2012, up to 3584 in 2015.
