A collaboration that brings together artists and wordsmiths will come to an exciting close this weekend.

The 5th annual Voice and Vision gala will be taking place at the Airdrie Public Library on Saturday.

The event, which is part of Alberta Culture Days, paired 15 artists with 15 writers in the spring of this year. They all submitted a piece of art or a piece of writing for the other to use as inspiration.

Over the past several months they’ve all been working on creating a new work based on what their partner had done.

“Then we do the gala where they reveal their response pieces and get to talk about what they did and their inspirations,” said Eric Pottie, programming and customer engagement manager at the Airdrie Public Library.

The gala takes place Saturday, September 26, from 7-9 by invitation only, however it will be live-streamed over Facebook for the public to participate.

All the works will be displayed in the library throughout the month of October for residents to check out.
