If you are an Airdronian waiting for a medically necessary treatment, then you could be waiting a long time!

That wait time has significantly increased over the last 23 years going from 10.5 weeks in 1993 to just under 23 weeks in 2016.

Alberta has the second longest wait time in Western Canada with BC taking the longest at 25.2 weeks.

If you're waiting for an MRI, CT scan, or ultrasound there is still a lineup that could take up to 11 weeks.

“Just spending more money doesn’t fix the problem; it requires innovation and a vision to actually fix the problem," said Wildrose Shadow Health Minister Drew Barnes.

When specialties are broken down the specialist with the longest wait time is a neurosurgeon who averages 46.9 weeks to receive treatment.

The shortest wait time is with medical oncology where treatment might beging in an average of 3.7 weeks.

Although the NDP government has dolled out millions of dollars on health care the Wildrose Party does not feel it is being spent in the right way.
