April 9 will mark the 100 year anniversary of the battle of Vimy Ridge.

It was a defining moment in Canadian history when four divisions of the Canadian Forces came together to fight what some saw as the impossible.

During the course of four days in April 1917 during World War One, the Canadian forces persevered and won the battle at Vimy Ridge.

Beyond the victory there was also the loss; 3,598 Canadian soldiers died while 7000 were wounded.

To honour our soldiers and to commemorate the 100th Anniversary, the Airdrie Royal Canadian Legion will be hosting a ceremony on Saturday, April 8, at 1pm at the LAV monument at the Nose Creek Museum.
