Health Canada plans to introduce legislation to regulate E-Cigarettes.

This fall they hope to help adults benefit from vaping as a smoking alternative, while preventing kids from smoking.

"Health Canada is developing an approach to vaping products that considers both their potential benefits, and risk to Canadians." said Eric Morrissette, Chief of Media Relations, Health Canada.

Vaping products that contain nicotine or claim therapeutic properties must be approved by Health Canada. However, those that do not are only required to adhere by the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act.

The Canadian government is also looking to renew the federal tobacco control strategy that was introduced in 2001.
