Mental Health Awareness Week continues in Airdrie and Canada with an invitation to wear your best hat.

May 3rd is designated as 'Hats On For Mental Health', an initiative that Airdrie's Mitch George is behind.

"I'm happy to support it, I'm happy to make it known. I think it's nice that we kinda bring it to light because it's hidden in the dark for the rest of the year."

George, who owns the local film studio Crooked Cinema, says these issues come up everywhere, including his industry.

"A big part for us is just to be able to meet those needs kinda where they're at. A big part of it is addressing it and knowing it exists."

The day has been promoted by thousands on social media and continues to press an issue that George says is getting more attention.

"We come in and we're smiling and we're happy to know that other people are recognizing it and recognizing the need to identify mental health."
