Developers of a proposed greenhouse and farmer's market in Rocky View County were pleased with the turnout for the first open house on Wednesday night.

Around 30 people turned out at the Balzac Community Hall to ask questions and see the proposal's drawings and plans, according to Developer's Rep Cindy Bushfield.

"We're very happy with the turnout and the feedback from the public. The main concern was issues surrounding water, and I think that's pretty typical of any development these days, but the majority of the feedback was very positive. The majority of people showed a lot of excitement about the potential here."

Bushfield wasn't only pleased about the number of people who turned out, but also about the perspectives they offered. "There were area residents, there was competition and there were influential people there, so it was kind of a mix."

The next step for the developers is a meeting with Rocky View County.

"We're waiting to get an actual date to go to council and we'll bring along our feedback and the rest of our presentation and we'll have to see what happens when council hears it," says Bushfield who expects the meeting will happen sometime within the next month.

According to Bushfield, they're already contemplating the next open house on the development. "Public input is important throughout the whole process, not just in the beginning."
