The 2017 Ride Of The Mustang has officially kicked off.

Hundreds of students and staff took part in the opening ceremonies earlier today (April 11th), and things went without a hitch.

"It went so good, it went so smooth," said Jen, one of the student organizers, "We started biking right at 12, right on schedule which is awesome. We are so excited, this gym is full of energy."

One of the highlights of the ceremony was a hand written letter to the students from Alberta Country artist Brett Kissel, wishing them luck in this year's event.

The students will be riding until noon on April 13th as they raise support and funds for the Alberta Children's Hospital.

"This year's goal is $130,000 so our total would be at $770,000, lucky number seven," said Jen, "Hopefully those online donations will be racking in pretty soon."
