As of today (August 24), the lane pool at Genesis Place has reopened.

The lane pool was originally closed on July 3 as part of rotational closures to replace drains at the aquatic centre to meet new Alberta Pool Standards safety regulations.

The pool remained closed through much of August due to an issue with paint curing.

After repairs were completed, the pool was filled last week. Now that Genesis Place has gotten the green light from Alberta Health Services following a water sample test, they have reopened the lane pool.

The maintenance schedule for the rest of the pools was also updated. Manager Greg Lockert explained that they are working to finish all the maintenance by September 15 in order to keep their commitments to groups that have arranged to use the pool come fall.

As a result, there will be some overlapping closures. Work in the dive tank continues and should wrap up on September 15. Work will begin today on both the water slide and the hot tub. The water slide will undergo work until September 11, while the hot tub will see work until October 1. Work in the mechanical room affecting the leisure pool and steam room will being on August 29 and finish on September 11, overlapping with the dive tank closure.
