A very special local cowboy is about to make his city proud as he gets ready for the World Mini Bull Riding Championships

7 year-old Gavin Rose is one of only three Canadians that will head to Oklahoma in September for the international competition.

In 2014, Gavin was diagnosed with Autism which his parents said made group sports difficult. However, Gavin was determined to find something competitive that he would enjoy.

Less than two years ago, he discovered Miniature Bull Riding and he’s loved it ever since.

In his young career so far, Gavin has qualified for the 2017 and 2018 Canadian Junior Rough Stock Peewee Bareback Finals and the 2017 and 2018 Canadian Cup.

He’s also won the 2018 Peewee Mini Invasion Tour for Bull Riding and Bareback.

On August 12th, Gavin and his family received some unbelievable news, that he qualified for the World Championships in Oklahoma.

Before they can start the tournament, Gavin’s mom Nikki says they need some help.

“As it stands we’re most likely driving so gift cards for food, gas, anything to help make our way there. If there’s any help with discounts for hotels, anything that helps as it’s just me and him.”

The championships begin on September 12th and Nikki would love nothing more than to continue making Gavin’s dreams a reality.

“It’s a lot of extra but it’s an amazing opportunity for him, there’s three Canadian boys going and that’s it. It’s a big thing.”
