Airdrionians are happy to see the sun after a long cold winter but with the snow gone many are noticing the garbage left behind.

The City has identified a few problems areas such as Veterans Boulevard, Yankee Valley Boulevard, Highway 2 and also along the creeks.

City Parks Team Leader, Kevin Brinson said the City is going to tackle this issue over the month of May.

"We haven't had a full complement of staff yet for the summer. They're going to be starting May 7th this year, and once they start we go full guns on it."

Community members have complained about the trash but Brinson said some citizens have taken it upon themselves to clean up.

"We have a lot of church groups that come forward. We have people that just phone us up and say hey we cleaned up an area and they will put a bag beside our garbage cans. We have Junior Forest Wardens, and you know we have a lot of people that come forward this time of year too because they want to help us out and we muchly appreciate that."
