Nadyne Brost's and Dustin Saxton's wedding went ahead as planned on Saturday near Balzac.  Well, sort of.

A Friday afternoon fire east of Balzac on Highway 566 destroyed a home on the property but it couldn't put a stop to the couple's wedding at the same property Saturday afternoon.

The fire broke out around 3:00 pm Friday afternoon.  Dustin Saxton's sister and her two-week-old baby were in the home but got out safely.

Saturday morning Bev Brost, Nadyne's mother, was setting up for the wedding without any electricity.  The wedding reception took place in a building that was still standing, about 50 metres from the home that was destroyed.

Rocky View County fire crews, who had battled the fire the day before, showed up yesterday with their fire trucks to try to make the day extra special for Nadyne and Dustin.

Rocky View Fire Investigators have determined the fire started when sparks from a fire pit ignited some wood that was stored against the vinyl siding of the home.
