On Saturday (July 8), a local band played one of the most prestigious gigs of their career so far.

Despite the heat warnings, lead singer Brad Fleischer, bassist Ryan Fleischer, drummer Brandon Alberts and guitarist Mark Janz took the Coca-Cola stage at the Calgary Stampede just after noon to play a thirty minute set.

Brad Fleischer said that the warm weather wasn't actually much of a distraction as they played through seven songs.

"I love performing when the temperature is pretty hot. You don't have to really warm up, your body's just ready to give 'er. Obviously you have to watch out for exhaustion and that sort of thing, but at the same time, I love the heat."

Fleischer said while they have played to bigger crowds, the Coca-Cola stage is the most prominent show they've played. It was incredibly meaningful to stand where other musicians that they love, like Theory of a Dead Man, Loverboy and Glass Tiger, had played before.

"We've really been pushing and wanting that stage for a long time and picturing that in our minds, trying to envision it and make that vision come true. And we did it. It just goes to show that with persistence and dedication to something, it can work out."

Fleischer said one of the most special parts of the gig was sharing the moment with all the people that have been in their corner for so long. Nothing compared to looking out into the crowd and seeing friends and family cheering them on.

"There's been a lot of people along the way that have supported us and believed in us up until this point, and a lot of them were actually there to share that experience with us, at Coke Stage there, and that meant the world to us."

Fleischer said that the band will play a few more shows this month, and spend some time in the near future working on new songs.
