A section of Centre Avenue near Jensen Park was evacuated yesterday (May 2nd) after a gas line ruptured.

Deputy Fire Chief Garth Rabel says the incident happened as road crews were working on a water valve repair when they hit the nearby line.

The area was quickly evacuated while fire crews worked with ATCO Gas to shut off the flow.

Rabel says it took about two hours before people were allowed back into the area, and work on the water valve repair is back to normal.
