Airdrie RCMP responded to the theft of firearms from a residence which leads to a high-risk arrest and recovery of the guns. 

 On February 17th, 2019  around 1:00 p.m, Airdrie RCMP responded to a report of a group of youth males walking around with a firearm in the Woodside neighbourhood of Airdrie. 

Investigation at the scene revealed that these males had stolen several firearms from a house party in that neighbourhood the night before. It was determined that the males left in a cab and were heading into Calgary. 

A high-risk traffic stop was conducted by Airdrie RCMP and Calgary Police Service on Stoney Trail. 

Four males were arrested without incident. 

A search of the taxi located 2 rifles, a rifle magazine and two laptops, which were taken from the residence in Woodside.

19-year-old Samuel Kai Hunt of Airdrie has been charged with 11 criminal code offences including Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Unauthorized Possession in a Motor Vehicle. 

Three other males have been charged under the Youth Criminal Justice Act and cannot be named. They were charged with 7 criminal code offences including Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. 

They were released from custody and will attend Airdrie Provincial Court in March.
