A tough year for the Festival of Lights is only getting tougher.

Cold weather on the opening week has caused a decrease in attendance, and threatended to keep volunteers at home.

"When we hit temperatures of -25 with a windchill, we run a lights only production, so we tell our volunteers to stay home." said Michelle Pirzek, Volunteer Coordinator, Festival of Lights.

The Festival's 20th year has posed its share of challenges. Updates to the light displays cost the Festival of Lights committee $50,000.

"We are definitley asking that those who can make a donation, we really do need them to this year, because it will affect our budget for next year." said Pirzek.

The festival runs until December 31st from 6 pm - 9 pm.
