It's going to be a big, beautiful, and bright one this year.

Airdrie's Festival of Lights officially opens on December 1st this holiday season in Nose Creek Park. Airdronians will be able to enjoy a spectacular light display every day until December 31st from 6-9pm, Christmas Day and New Years Eve included.

Coordinator of the AFOLS, Michelle Pirzek, says the annual non-profit volunteer-based organization has received great support this year but donations are always welcomed.

"We rely on sponsorships, donations of the guests that visit, as well train revenues and concession revenues. This year, sponsorships are looking great and we understand that it's a tough economy so we're just hoping that those that can make a donation when they come are able to."

This year's Festival of Lights will feature a brand new display 'The 12 Days of Christmas', hot chocolate and ciders, and the usual firepit where visitors are encouraged to bring their roasting sticks and marshmallows. Miniature train rides will also be a feature at the festival as well as musical performances.
