As Airdrie prepares to roll out their curbside recycling service, some local providers are feeling left out.

Carolyn Christie, owner of Kick It To The Curb, says the next few months will be tough.

"Right now I have no illusions of being hopeful towards my business. Once the City puts blue carts all over the city, even the best intentioned customers may hang in for a couple months and then go 'why are we paying for both?'."

When it comes to the City's handling of the new recycling framework, Christie says she feels errors were made by council, leaving Christie and other business owners feeling ignored.

"They sat on it for over six months and did not move out the roll out date correspondingly. That action right there, left it completely improbable for any but the very largest companies."

Christie will continue to push her business but feels that the City's timing of the recycling program can be damaging.

"This particular administration and council may find it unfortunate to be doing this in an election year because it's been something of a disgrace."
