November is Family Violence Awareness Month in Alberta.

By putting it in the spotlight, Albertans hope to put a stop to the ever growing problem.

"In a month like this, it gives us an opportunity to highlight the resources available, and highlight the resources we need as well," said Crystal Boyes, Abuse Survivor/Community Advocate.

Spousal violence is the most common form, but violence against youth and seniors is also included.

Various resources are available in Airdrie through organizations like Community Links and the RCMP.

It is important to put a stop to a violent situation before it ends in the worst case scenario.

"It is still a big problem in today's society, it is not something that has gone away, in fact it's getting worse," said Boyes.
